15 years of debt

It all started with three months of unpaid rent. Soon there were bills so heavy that it became impossible to pay them. Finally, Jessica Lindgren put them in a pile instead, unopened.

- I was at rock bottom. At the same time, I have to manage the children's everyday life, she says.

For fifteen years, Lindgren has been affected by her debt and she's not alone. About half a million people are buried by debt each year with close to 400,000 people having a record of payment failure and the proportion of young people with severe debt problems has doubled in just three years.

- If you work but still can't afford to pay food and bills, what kind of human dignity do you have? says Lindgren.
